What is the WHU Entrepreneurship Roundtable?
The Entrepreneurship Roundtable is an initiative of MBA students from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. The Roundtable is a platform for MBA students to discuss business ideas, practice pitching and receive expert advice on startups and entrepreneurship. The Entrepreneurship Roundtable organizes world class events to establish a network and exchange between VCs, CVCs, founders, legal experts and business professionals. How will the future of mobility look like?

After the overwhelming success of our event in summer 2018, we went back to present a deep dive on the topic of mobility.
We have invited a number of internationally renowned speakers, including corporate executives, successful entrepreneurs and experienced investors. Our speakers provided their insights into the future of mobility. We focused on the topics of electrification, connectivity, autonomous driving, and vertical mobility. We discussed upcoming trends and how corporates evaluate these investment opportunities.

Lessons learned from startups.

After a deep dive focus on US and Israel in the past years, this year we took a look at the German innovation ecosystem. What are the lessons to be learned from startups that will aid corporate innovation? Alternatively, what can startups learn from corporates?
We have invited a number of internationally renowned speakers, including corporate executives, successful entrepreneurs and experienced investors. Our speakers provided their insights into the corporate venturing and innovation scene by relating their experience in digitalisation, B2B negotiations, corporate accelerators, evaluating investment opportunities and much more!
In the second part of the event, we heared from successful entrepreneurs and investors on how they overcome the challenges of acquiring and integrating startups to boost corporate innovation. We have taken a look at deal flow generation, innovation accounting, and discuss the upcoming trends in the food industry and how corporates evaluate these investment opportunities.

This event brought to campus Mr Christian Sassin, the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Educaro. Coming from an internationally spread-out family with educational and professional stays across four different continents, Christian Sassin had the mindset of a truly global citizen engraved into his identity from early on. This led him to later transform his own solutions to the challenges of being an international student into solutions that are now being used by thousands. With Educaro, he is enabling apprentices, students and working professionals to pursue careers in foreign countries, matching their skill and experience with the demands of nation states that are in need of qualified workers.
Entrepreneurship Roundtable hosted Ms. Miriam Mertens, Founder & CEO of Happy Rebels as a part of our Fireside Chat series.
Miriam Mertens candidly shared her experience of starting her own venture, by quitting an Management position at a multi-national firm, to solve a crisis situation which she personally experienced.
It was great listening to how to run a digital platform with limited resources and expanding business by leveraging personal networks.
Entrepreneurship Roundtable had an opportunity to host Robert Ermich, Founder and CEO at deinHandy.de.
It was an enriching experience listen to Mr. Ermich’s journey from working for Check24 to following his passion to start his own venture to solve problem faced by everyday consumer to get the best price from the mobile operators in the telephone industry marketplace. Participants learnt about how to handle the dynamics of fund raising and expanding an venture while still keeping the values of the company intact.
Fireside Chat with Sven Lackinger, a WHU alumnus (2014) and currently Co-Founder and Managing Director of evopark GmbH.
Together with 3 former university colleagues, Sven founded evopark back in early 2014. Since
then, he has been in charge of business development and fundraising activities. In 2018,
Scheidt & Bachmann Group bought a 75% share in evopark. Sven holds a master’s degree
from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and gathered experience at Goldman
Sachs and Boston Consulting Group.
The Entrepreneurship Roundtable held on October 8th its very first PitchStart!, as a part of the event StartingUp in Düsseldorf, organized by the Entrepreneurship Center.
During PitchStart! 5 very enthusiastic ideas were presented. From sustainable fashion to law coaching all to way into the pet industry and international students platform, all the future founders showed a lot of passion.
The ER goal is to provide a safe space for ideas to be presented to an audience for the very first time, and for receiving constructive feedback from the WHU community and external experts.
We are very thankful for everyone's engagement and very satisfied with the results and plan on keep promoting the entrepreneurial mindset in WHU.
