Aging researchers met at the "Age in the Workplace" Meeting in St. Gallen to discuss this and related questions.
From November 7-9, the “Age in the Workplace” Meeting (AWM) took place in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Scholars from all over the world came together for this invitation-only event to discuss age-inclusive workplaces that build a supporting environment for employees of all age groups.
Leadership plays of course a central role in this context. Indeed, companies are increasingly recognizing that leadership constitutes a crucial factor for creating an age-inclusive environment. For example, the Daimler AG has begun to train all managers to know the pillars of age-sensitive leadership style (http://www.eyalter.com/de/yes-mensch-im-mittelpunkt/). This project was based on research, among others supported by Prof. Gerpott - for example by including evidence-based best practices into the training program.
